What you will do
TG Simulation designs and builds flight simulators. A week with us is hands-on: you work on real engineering and computing projects beside the team, and you see a Boeing 737 simulator that is used to train airline pilots.
Software — design and build a working web app: screens, sign-in, a database, and putting it live on the internet.
Electronics — learn to solder, build circuits and light up your own project, then power it from a battery.
The simulator — see what a flight simulator looks like from the inside, how it is kept working and used to train pilots, and have a go at flying it.
What a week actually looks like
Two students have kept a record of their week with us and shared it. One built a working web app, a database, a live website and a battery-powered LED project in five days. The other soldered circuits, built a timetable web app and practised take-offs and landings in the simulator.
They are the students' own websites, and worth a look if you are deciding whether to apply.
How to apply
Understand, this is a good deal for you, the student. We are a busy place and have lots to do already. You need to be up for this yourself: approach us with a positive, enthusiastic mindset for any chance of success. If a teacher, or a parent or guardian, fills in the form and contacts us on your behalf, you're probably not the right person.
If your approach is successful, we will discuss it with your school and agree the placement in writing.
Placements are limited and depend on when the team is available, so we agree the dates and the plan with your school. We follow industry-standard safeguarding practice for students under 18, and we keep only what is needed to arrange the placement.
